Grus Gott!

Well, yes I am still around. I didn't intend to take a blogging break, but it appears that is what I did. Can't say I accomplished too much during the break - helping settle the estate of my Grandmother and a lot of airfare watching. I did chaperon another field trip. This one to Bok Tower. I only managed a couple of quick photos as I tried to keep a group of wandering first graders together.

My plan is to return another day unaccompanied by the minor distractions and visit the gardens.

News for the week: The big 40 is this weekend. I plan to spend it with my family. In honor of this new decade I finally booked our summer trip this morning. Let's see if you can guess where we are headed:
Clue 1: A UNESCO world heritage site since 1997

Clue 2: Home of the Festung Hohensalzburg.

Clue 3: Is famously pictured in this classic
And yes, I've been there before, but I could not resist returning. However this trip may finally give me a chance to visit the capital of the country. And yes, I am smiling as I write this.

Oh Hexe - I'm smiling so much too! That's so awesome that you will be going back to Austria - Salzburg if I am correct... Ah - I wish!!!

We were listening to how much vacation people get in Sweden per year - 10 wks! Wow... A dream to aspire to?

I hope you will be able to take lots of photos. I'm still secretly plotting my way to get back to Switzerland during the end of September... One can wish right!

I'm off to Cali this weekend too!

I love Vienna. Lovelovelove Vienna. Used to live in Bratislava, so Vienna was escape-to-civilization for us.

Only been to Salzburg once, but I am told there is a Sound of Music tour there that is so silly and over the top . . . they make you sing along. I would move heaven and earth to do that, and I'm not that big a fan of the movie. (No one outside Salzburg has ever heard of the movie, BTW.)

E.T. - Sweden has a good thing. I'm not sure we'll ever see that here. Good luck on your plans to Switzerland and enjoy Cali!

Expatressee - We actually will be staying outside of Salzburg in the lake district, but will manage a day trip or two. I always found it funny that US citizens know Salzburg through the Sound of Music, but people from Salzburg didn't even know the movie.

I spent most of my childhood summers with my grandparents in Salzburg and did not know about the movie! I saw it first on PBS with my children. *smile*

Would you mail me about the time you will be in the area? We should manage to meet this time, shouldn't we?
