A View From My (Borrowed) Window

Merano Italy, October 2008
Every morning and evening, I would fling open the drapes

And step out onto the deck and just stare.

I would wonder

if the people who lived here,

the people who had this view all the time,

ever tired of it?

I would wonder if

in their daily hustle and bustle,

they forgot to look around

in awe

and appreciation

and contentment.
Photos taken from the balcony of my room at Hotel Pienzenau in Merano, Italy.

I certainly know not a day went by where I didn't stop, breath and tell myself how lucky I was to have a view like that!

As I read through your blog posts, all the way up to your post-Thanksgiving one, I could not help but think that you are way too sweet for that bunch of people who expects you to provide that huge dinner, year after year! If I were you, I would start planning right now to have next year's Thanksgiving with your parents up in Maine, for goodness' sake!

Good luck und hugs!
